Nicky Shepard, Liberal Democrat Candidate for North East Herts

19th May 2017 by Phil Comments Off on Nicky Shepard, Liberal Democrat Candidate for North East Herts

With the General Election now approaching, let us introduce Nicky Shepard, the LibDem candidate for this constituency.

Nicky has a strong background as a community campaigner, fighting for the rights of the people of Abbey in Cambridge. In the 2017 County Council elections, she ran the most successful Liberal Democrat campaign in Abbey Division in its history.

She is a business woman, wife, and mother to two active boys. She currently works in PR and Marketing for a housing association in Cambridge and is the founder and director of Cambridge Style Week, director of The Marketing Boutique, an Ambassador for “Born to Be Beautiful” charity, and an Arbonne Consultant.

I believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to make the world a better place.  I am standing as parliamentary candidate for North East Hertfordshire because I believe that now, more than ever, our nation needs a strong, liberal voice in government.

Local Election Results

5th May 2017 by Phil Comments Off on Local Election Results

Results are now coming in for the local elections yesterday, and we are very happy to note that Liberal Democrat candidate Steve Jarvis has taken the Royston West and Rural Herts County Council seat from the Conservatives. In addition, Liberal Democrat Susan van de Ven held her Melbourn seat in the Cambridgeshire County Council elections. The Royston Crow has details.

In many other seats at different levels across the area, the Lib Dems candidate achieved solid second place positions, confirming our status as the only credible challengers to the Conservatives – something to bear in mind at the General Election next month.

Carol Stanier, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Heath Ward

by Phil Comments Off on Carol Stanier, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Heath Ward

Carol Stanier is the Liberal Democrat candidate for the District Council in Heath Ward.

Carol has lived in Royston for the past seven years and is a scientist by training, and self-employed. Her children attend local day nursery and school. Carol loves Royston but feels that the time is right for change and that the Conservatives no longer represent the best interests of the people of the town. She wishes to be responsive and accessible to all the people she represents.

Carol said, “The Tory-led council in this area has been in charge for too long; it is complacent and stuck in a rut. They voted themselves a pay rise recently despite making cuts in many other areas, including provision of playgrounds.”

Carol will provide the dynamism and fresh thinking required for a town that is rapidly changing, with population rising and services already stretched.
