The consultation on whether to introduce a 20mph speed limit in Tannery Drift ends this Friday. Because of Herts County Council’s rules the limit can only be introduced if there are speed humps because the current speeds are more than 24 mph (yes that’s daft but that’s what the Conservatives in charge at the County Council keep insisting on).

Work on the Litlington junction on the A505 is scheduled to start on 26th July. This will involve building a new traffic island and filling part of the gap in the central reservation so that traffic coming out of the Litlington turning has to turn left.
This should make the junction safer and prevent people turning the wrong way.
Litlington was picked as the first junction to have this sort of work since it has the worst record for accidents where someone was injured and it is only a short distance to the roundabout for those who want to travel towards Baldock.
It is only a small step after so many people's efforts over many years, but at least it is a step forward. ...
It is good to see that the traffic island I arranged to be installed in Baldock Road has now been completed. It should make it easier for people to cross to the heath and hopefully will slow the traffic a little. ...
